Deepfake costs company $25 million
Scammers created AI-generated deepfake videos to impersonate the CFO of a multinational company during a video call, CNN reported.
This deception led an employee to mistakenly transfer more than $25 million, believing it to be a legitimate request. The scam featured deepfake portrayals of the CFO and other top executives.
Hong Kong police report more than 20 incidents where AI deepfakes were used to circumvent facial recognition systems, highlighting the growing use of deepfake technology in fraud and identity theft cases.
Meta to put labels on images created by AI
Meta is making it easier to spot images made by AI on its websites.
They will start showing labels on pictures made with other companies' tools, not just their own "Imagine with Meta" tool. This is especially important for pictures related to elections worldwide.
Meta is also looking into using AI to help check content, but they know it's hard to tell when videos and audio are made by AI. They want people to say if their content is made by AI.
